Reinventing a new town for tomorrow’s world
Reef have ambitious plans of creating a life science district in the heart of Stevenage town centre. Working with key stakeholders including Hertfordshire LEP and Stevenage Borough Council to deliver a masterplan for a new quarter.
Stevenage includes the largest cluster of Cell and Gene Therapy companies outside the USA and given its location and connections into London and Cambridge the town offers a fantastic work life balance.
Completed in December 2021, The Forge is a mixed-use development in the former Marks & Spencer department store and adjacent retail parade. Providing much needed prime office, retail, restaurant, residential and gym space for the town.
The first phase of the life science quarter includes a new HQ building for Autolus Therapeutics Plc, which will serve the USA, UK and European markets. Autolus is focused on the development of precisely targeted, controlled and highly active T Cell therapies that are designed to offer cancer patients substantial benefits over existing standards of care. The scheme will create over 400 jobs and commit the $2.5bn company to Stevenage. Reef will be delivering a new advanced manufacturing unit which will include a mixture of grade 3 labs, offices and manufacturing accommodation.
Construction, using a volumetric approach, commenced in October 2021 with sectional completion in October 2022 and practical completion in January 2023. Our plans also include substantial public realm and place making benefits and will see the regeneration of a car park which is currently significantly underutilised.
